Scholarly Checklist
The author(s) are professors or researchers at a university or research institution.
The journal (in which the article was published) focuses on an area of study related to history (ex. Canadian Ethnic Studies).
An abstract provides a summary of the article.
There is a thesis that defines the argument being made.
A DOI is provided (not always given, but if it is, you most certainly have a scholarly article in hand).
