Sheridan's Tutoring Centre provides free one-on-one and group sessions that offer personalized attention and guidance to support your learning outside the classroom. Tutors can work with you to enhance your study skills, create a path to help you achieve your goals, and boost your confidence in class.
But is there anything you can do to get the most out of a tutoring session?
AI-powered tutoring tools can test you on your current subject knowledge and highlight areas where you might need additional support from a tutor who has direct experience with Sheridan's learning environment.
In this section, we'll highlight how you can use Microsoft Copilot to help you prepare for a tutoring session and point you to a few more tools you can use during self-study sessions!
Microsoft Copilot is a generative AI (GenAI) assistant that offers a new way to search for information. Copilot helps users by answering questions, finding information online, and engaging in conversation—in this case, we'll use this tool to help you better prepare for a tutoring appointment with a Sheridan tutor.
Remember—Copilot's output (i.e., what it creates for you) is only as good as your input (i.e., the prompt or the request you ask Copilot to do for you). You'll need to be precise and specific with your written directions to get the best results from any GenAI assistant.
In the video above, we used the following prompts to help us prepare for a tutoring session:
You can try it out too! If you need to book a tutoring appointment, head over to TutorOcean to get started!
You can learn more about Microsoft Copilot on the Digital Skills module on the Academic Skills Hub.
