Reading for Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion

Looking for more novels, short stories, poetry, or memoirs similar to those in the CEI Diversity Collection? Sheridan Library has resources, including on-line books and film, that speak to experiences on subjects such as race, gender, sexuality, class, and disability. We are always open to suggestions for adding diversity to the collection.

This section contains some starting points for finding resources in our collection. Use the menu on the left to get started.

Intersectionality

Sheridan Library recognizes that resources on diversity are often described through one lens only, such as Black stories or LGBTQ films. These labels do not recognize intersectional identities, such as being Black and lesbian, or an immigrant and disabled. The intersectionality framework was introduced by Kimberlé Crenshaw, and is explained in this video.
