LITT30146GD: American Road Narratives

Find Secondary Sources

The purpose of your assignment is to show how a primary text speaks to a particular issue: how it challenges, critiques, subverts, consolidates, etc., certain ideas. Your interpretation is derived from this close analysis. Your essay must incorporate research from at least two secondary academic sources (scholarly articles and/or book chapters).

Search Tips

When searching, search for each of the following aspects separately at first, before combining two or more:

  • Author & Title (ex. Jack Kerouac "On the Road")
  • Genre (ex. American Road)
  • Demographic (ex. American Literature)
  • Time Period (ex. 20th Century Literature)
  • Literary device, theme or technique (ex. representation of nature)
