Books are a common source of both secondary and primary sources. Letters, memoirs, and original writings from historical figures are often collected into books and serve as excellent primary sources. Historians also publish books as secondary sources to share their in-depth research regarding specific historical events, themes, or individuals. And finally, encyclopedias and dictionaries can be excellent secondary sources for learning about the basic elements of historical events, eras, individuals, and concepts.
