Understanding the Parts that Make Up Your Paper

Anatomy pieces from the board game, Operation Most essays have the same anatomy or parts. These parts include:

  • an opening paragraph that includes a thesis statement.
  • supporting paragraphs (also called the body of the paper).
  • a conclusion.
  • and a reference list (may also be called a bibliography or works cited page).
