An outline is a quick and simple way to organize your ideas and key points in your essay. It can help speed up your first draft since you have already identified your main arguments and supporting points. It can also help you avoid getting off-track as you are writing. You would be able to see the progression of your arguments and analyze whether they support the thesis or help answer the research question.
