Self Advocacy

Communication

An effective self-advocate is assertive, not aggressive. Assume that the college personnel are there to help meet our needs is always a positive start.

Practicing what we are going to say beforehand is a good habit (this will help us be clear and concise when asking for help).

Clear communication is always a bonus and often results in positive outcomes.
