Studying & Test Taking

Introduction

Studying involves taking in and retaining new information. Ideally, studying is a chance for you to read and process course content, either to review what you've already covered in class, or to help you prepare for future classes.

While everyone has a different style when it comes to studying, it's important to know that studying is a skill—you can get better with practice, but you need to set time aside to make it a new habit.

You need a number of skills and processes to study effectively, which include

  • Effective Time Management, so you can schedule study sessions and add structure to your routine,
  • Strategies for Taking Notes, so you can think and reflect while reading, and
  • Learning how your Mindset Matters, so you can manage your stress and focus on success.

In this module, we'll talk about developing good study practices and offer tips and tricks so you can make studying sessions more effective for you.

  • What do I like about my studying system right now?

  • What do I want to learn to make me more efficient with studying?
