Waste Management

Waste management is the process of collecting, treating and disposing of waste materials in a way that is safe and efficient, including everything from recycling and composting to landfilling and incineration. The goal of waste management is to reduce the amount of waste that ends up in landfills and to protect the environment from the negative impacts of waste. This can be achieved through a variety of methods, including source reduction, reuse, and recycling. Read more at US EPA's Manufacturing Waste Management Trend.

In your research, try a variety of sources such as:

  • Case studies: find specific examples of waste management practices. This can include studying the successes and challenges of a specific waste management program, or comparing different waste management systems.
  • Cost-benefit analysis: This method involves evaluating the financial costs and benefits of different waste management options.
  • Literature reviews: review existing research on waste management to gain a broader understanding of the topic. This can include reviewing academic journals, government reports, and other relevant literature.
