Understanding Academic Integrity

Avoid Submitting Previous Work

To avoid re-submitting previous work, try to choose a new topic, whenever possible, to increase your learning and engagement. Here are some tips to consider:

  • The work you submitted previously could be used as a resource for your current assignment, but how you use it determines whether you’ve plagiarized yourself or not.
  • Think about how you can explore the topic in new ways.
  • Conduct additional research.
  • If you believe you have a good reason for reusing work, contact each professor beforehand (previous professor and your current professor) so they’re aware that you’re resubmitting previous work.
