Understanding Academic Integrity

Avoiding Homework Help Sites

It is recommended that you avoid using these sites altogether, especially during online tests and exams.

Tutoring at Sheridan can help you clarify assignment questions, review concepts already taught in your course, help with writing and citations, and more. The students who tutor have already successfully completed the course you are seeking help in.

Succeeding Without Homework Help Sites

Instead of relying on homework help sites for test answers, do the following prior to the scheduled test or exam:

  • Visit the Studying and Test Taking Module to learn more about different strategies for better preparing for tests and exams.
  • Seek help from the Tutoring Centre prior to the test. This is a legitimate source of help and is free of cost.
  • If you're struggling with course material, let your professor know
  • Learn to determine when the "help" homework help companies offer crosses the line, especially on tests and exams.

Curious about Sheridan's take on cheating? The Academic Integrity Policy (2016a) states that cheating is "submitting work prepared in whole or in part by another person and representing that work as one's own" (p. 4).
