Truth & Reconciliation

Born out of the Indian Residential Schools Settlement Agreement, 2006, the Truth and Reconciliation Commission of Canada was established as "an overall holistic and comprehensive response to the Indian Residential School legacy", serving as "a sincere indication and acknowledgement of the injustices and harms experienced by Aboriginal people and the need for continued healing" (Settlement Agreement, Schedule 'N').
