What is Grit?

Passion and perserverance for long term goals (Duckworth et al., 2007).

Grit is related to resilience in that part of what it means to be “gritty” is to be resilient in the face of failure or adversity (Perkins-Gough, 2013).

How Gritty are you?

Check out this self assessment from Angela Duckworth: Grit Scale

The good news is that resilience and grit are learnable skills - anyone can develop them! As Angela Duckworth mentioned in her TED Talk, one way that we can become grittier and more resilient is to learn how to adopt a growth mindset (TED, 2013).
